Mornings start out with Nadia hanging out in the kitchen while breakfast is being made. This is what we call her default mode. Unless her hands are busy with something, they go into this position...two fingers in her mouth, the other hand in her hair. :)
Having the older girls spend time with the little ones has been a blessing in so many ways. The girls gain valuable experience caring for them, and the littles have a great time playing games, listening to stories and doing crafts.
An hour outside is part of their morning routine. They soak in some sunshine and fill their lungs with fresh air and their hands with flowers.
I am finding that my time with the middle kids has been much more fruitful without the interruptions.
Yesterday when Justine took the little people for a walk, they found Cyrus dead on the road. Poor Thomas took it hard. He didn't want to believe that it was really Cyrus. That afternoon the girls asked the neighbours if they had any cats to spare, and they sent Snowflake home with them. We had already half claimed her anyway since she had been stopping by for frequent visits. But she always returned home after a little while. To keep her from going back again we have kept her in the house. She's made herself right at home...
For two days this week Gerald was working on a job close to home. Close enough to come home for lunch and close enough for us to stop by and watch him for a bit. What a treat! Too bad I don't have any after pictures, because this barn wall looks so much better now with a coat of paint.
We don't manage to fit in a walk every evening, but we sure enjoy them when we do. Especially at this time of year when the evening brings a bit of chill to the air and we have to walk briskly to keep warm.
Thanks for stopping by,
