You know that the sweet corn is almost ready when the coons get at it...
You'd think that with acres and acres of corn around us they would leave our little bit alone.
We picked a few cobs that were left - the kernals haven't fully plumped out yet, but if we leave them another night they're likely to be gone by morning.
But it's not all bad news from the garden. We've been enjoying as many cucumbers as we can eat, we've put a few meals of beans in the freezer, we have green, yellow and purple peppers, plenty of lettuce, and the zucchinis are now large enough to pick.
Beautiful things are happening, too...

Right now it's attracting the insects, but soon the birds will be stopping by to enjoy the seeds. And unlike the corn, we don't mind sharing those.

Dumb raccoons! I can't abide those animals, lol.
Your sunflower picture is beautiful!
That is so maddening! The past three years we have lost some or ALL or carrots to coyotes. Yep, they eat carrots! They go along the row neatly pulling them up with their front teeth (they don't dig much) - so neat in fact, that it hard to see where the row even was! This year, we will be putting wire mesh arches over the rows as soon as I am done thinning. We don't go to all that work to have the pesky coyotes eat them all.
I hope you can enjoy the rest of your garden produce.

Purple pepper? How about "rainbow" peppers? Just don't try to sell them to Mom..... TeeHee
