More Down Than Up

The doctor warned us that Thomas would have ups and downs for about a week.  It appears that she was right.  Today was a "down" day.  The poor guy couldn't keep any food down at all and the medication just couldn't take his pain away.  He had to have a bit of morphine again on top of his regular pain meds.  A cold cloth across his forehead seemed to help, and thankfully he slept a lot.  It is such a blessing to be in a quiet room.  During his down times he cannot tolerate light, noise, activity or visual stimulation.  It's been hard for him, but he's being brave.
I've been camping out at the hospital with him day and night.  Gerald and the girls have been posting my updates for me.  The 3 other boys and Nadia are staying with family and friends.  The five older girls are keeping things going at home - bringing in the garden produce and making sure the pool gets used. :)
We're doing well and really appreciate the offers of help and expressions of love and concern.

This is when I miss being closer to you guys :( I was thinking this morning about your post about his good day and thought about how God gives us rays of hope during times of struggle. So, my encouragement for you today is to remember the sprinkles of joy and hope during the better times which make the harder times a little bit easier to bear, being thankful of being moved to a quieter room, being thankful for friends and family in time of need. Praying for you all.

Praying for your family and little Thomas in particular. Know that many are lifting your needs up to God's throne. Hang in there, you are not alone!

Aw, I am so sorry. It hurts so much for us Momma's to see our babies suffer and not be able to take their pain. Praying for you today.
