Lest We Forget

This morning we went to the cenotaph to honour the memory of those who sacrificed themselves in order to secure freedom for us. I don't think we can really fully appreciate the magnitude of the wars and what it cost in terms of lives.

We pull this book off the shelf every year on Remembrance Day. It's the story of the poem "In Flanders Fields," beautifully illustrated. The poem was written by a Canadian, John McCrae. It's not hard to imagine why the response to it was overwhelming right from the start.

There's something dashing yet noble about the RCMP uniform, don't you think?
The weather was amazing...sunny and about 10 degrees. Thomas must have felt too warm, so he took off his hoodie and was walking around in a T-shirt -- and mittens. :o)
