Great-Oma

Yesterday my grandmother was taken home to the Lord.  Oma was 96 years old.  On Monday we will be laying her body to rest.

A few weeks ago Gerald and I went to visit her. She had changed so much from the last time I had seen her, and yet she was still Oma. Though she did not recognize us,  I'm thankful to have had that opportunity to visit her.  Somehow it was still important and meaningful.

I am awed at the idea of living for 96 years.  That seems so long.  And yet, really, it is short.  Man's days are like a vapour, the Bible says, (James 4:4) but the Word of the Lord abides forever (1Peter 2:24,25). In God's Word we find purpose and meaning for our lives, and hope for the life to come.  We are comforted that Oma has been taken to glory because God's Word is faithful and true.
