Although the kids had reported seeing some robins a few days ago, I had not seen one until this morning...
Then, while I still had the camera handy, this woodpecker landed on the tree stump in the front yard...
We're pretty sure that it is a Red-bellied woodpecker, the rarest woodpecker in Ontario. We've been hearing the drumming noises and were wondering if we would get a chance to see who was making them.
I had no idea that they could turn their heads right around like this. Amazing. If I could do that I would not need eyes on the back of my head. ;)
